Introduction

The National Service Scheme(NSS) is an Indian government sponsored public service program. It is conductedby the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Thescheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year, 1969. The main objective ofthis scheme is the development of college student's personality throughcommunity service. The programmes organised by students are the joint effort ofstudents and teachers, through which they are trying to be a part of nationaldevelopment.

Objectives

  • To instill the idea of social welfare in students
  • To provide service to society without bias.
  • To ensure that everyone who is needy gets help 
  • To learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources.
  • To provides help in natural and man-made disasters
  • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude;
  • To practice national integration and social harmony.
